Crime and Punishment filmfest awards Iran’s ‘Namo’

The 10th Int’l Crime and Punishment Film Festival in Turkey awards Iran’s ‘Namo’.

The 10th International Crime and Punishment Film Festival (USCFF) in Turkey has awarded Iranian flick ‘Namo’ (The Alien).

Directed by Nader Saeevar, the Iranian work won the Best Feature Film award in Golden Scale Feature Film Competition, organizers of the USCFF announced on Thursday.

‘Namo’ narrates the story of a family who has to move to Kordestan Province in Iran because of the father's profession who is a teacher. The film follows their life in the new environment.

Some of the cast members are Bakhtiyar Panjehee, Sevil Shirgir, Nader Mehdilou, Nasser Hashemi, Hadi Eftekharzadeh, Firouz Aqeli, and Tara Aqajani.

The Hong Kong International Film Festival and the Taormina Film Fest in Italy presented their Best Actor Award to Panjehee for his role in ‘Namo’.

The flick has also gone on screen at some prestigious global events, including the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany.

Starting in 2011, the USCFF is a themed festival which aims to make a cultural impact on the theme of justice, using art and science’s impactful language and to enrich the socio-cultural life, regarding people’s rights and freedom.

The 2020 edition of the USCFF was held on November 20-26.
